The Walls Go Up

The changes to the Guesthouse construction are remarkable since the last post here! Photos below document the large amount of work done in the last days...

A look into the octagon courtyard as the walls begin to rise.

Each day one of the village women "cured" the bricks
by pouring water over the fresh cement.

The rooms begin to take shape.

Each room or "apartment" is divided by a contrasting red brick wall. The 'fundi' or workman is careful to get the wall level right from the outset. He is excellent at what he does.

Pretty straight wall, eh?

No high tech tools here, but tried and true methods still work perfectly.

Brick by brick the walls get higher. The men work together in pairs, each in a section of the guesthouse, in the hot equatorial sun.

The progress is slow and steady. I can't wait to see how high the walls are when I return to Longido on Monday.
